Biografia
Luciano Cannella nasce a San Cipirello (PA) il primo gennaio 1958. Laureato in chimica, inizia la sua attività lavorativa a Milano, per poi trasferirsi a Siracusa, dove tuttora risiede.
Si è avvicinato alla fotografia con la timidezza che si manifesta al cospetto di un grande desiderio e con il rispetto dovuto a un’arte. Fotografo per passione, fotografo autodidatta, dedica il suo tempo alla fotografia ormai da anni. Studia fotografia. Studia fotografi.
E’ attratto dalla ritrattistica femminile. Fotografa amiche, figlie di amiche. Chiede alla commessa del bar dov’è solito fare colazione di farsi fotografare, la risposta è “si”; ha inizio così un percorso ancora ininterrotto di ritratti femminili.
Mette in mostra le sue foto per la prima volta nel 2014 con la raccolta “Giovani donne ritratte”; segue nel 2015 la mostra “Il sogno” e nel 2016 “Beauty portraits”.
Nella primavera del 2016 matura il desiderio di ritrarre Siracusa. Decide di regalarsi una visione inusuale della città, astratta dal parametro tempo. Censisce gli edifici alti della città e va a chiedere alle persone di poter fare le sue foto dal terrazzo. Nascono così le vedute di Siracusa dall’alto in bianco e nero.
Ogni foto è un “si” ricevuto dalle persone che lo fanno entrare in casa loro. Ogni “si” è un ritratto di Siracusa.
Biography
Luciano Cannella was born in San Cipirello (PA) the first of January in 1958. He graduated in Chemistry and his first employment was in Milan, then he moved to Syracuse where he still live today.
Luciano Cannella, shyly approached himself to photography. This shyness it manifests with the presence of a great desire and a deep respect for this amazing art. Photographer by passion, he became a self-taught photographer and from many years he is dedicating all of his time to photography. He studying photography and photographers.
He always been attracted from female portraiture. His photos subjects are girlfriends, daughters of friends; he asks to the clerk of the bar where he used to take breakfast to be photographed and the answer is "yes", in this way begins an uninterrupted journey of female portraits.
His first exhibition was in 2014 with the collection called "Young women portrayed"; following by another exhibition with the name of "The Dream" and in 2016 there was the last one, "Beauty portraits".
In the spring of 2016, Luciano felt that a new desire was growing up inside of him, he want to portray Syracuse; so he decide to give to himself an unusual view of the city, abstract from time parameter. He starts a census of the high buildings of the city and he comes to people to asking them if he can take his shoot from their terraces. In this fascinating way was born a new style of pictures in black and white of Syracuse views from above.
Every photos is a "yes" received from people who allowed him to enter in their houses and take the pictures. Every "yes" is a portrait of Syracuse.
